Daily Sketch- 04.18.2011

Monday. Oh what a day you have proven to be. The work week begins (always a fun thing), but something is different this particular Monday. What is it? Hmm– Oh yeah, today is TAX day. Have you filed yet? Good. Good.

Now don’t get too down. It’s only money. That is if you have to pay. If not and you are getting a return… quit your belly aching. But if you do need a little pick me up? How about a Daily Sketch? Drawin’ always makes me feel good.

Today’s sketch is a commission of William Powell as Nick Charles aka the Thin Man (though Mr. Charles is not in fact the “thin man” in the story). The film is based on the character and novel written by Dashiell Hammett and paired Powell with the lovely Myrna Loy in a total of six Thin Man movies (the Thin Man (1934), After the Thin Man (1936), Another Thin Man (1939), Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), The Thin Man Goes Home (1945) and Song of the Thin Man (1947)). They are all great films and worth a viewing. Powell and Loy, also reprised their roles of Nick and Nora Charles for the 1936 Lux Radio Theater’s radio drama of the Thin Man.

"Now my friends, if I may propose a little toast. Let us eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die."

That’s all for today.

See ya’ tomorrow.
