Today is a sad day for comic book fans all over the world. Word has come that late last night legendary comic book artist Gene Colan past away. Gene was one of the many talent folks who paved the way and inspired many of today’s artists. His style was unique and bold. You could look at anything he did and know that was a Colan picture. His work wowed fans from the get go on titles like Daredevil and Captain America. Then in the seventies he really shined on titles like Doctor Strange, Batman and the Tomb of Dracula. It was on this title that Gene became so popular that if anyone wanted to draw anything remotely spooky, Gene was the artist to get inspiration from.
Here is a small sampling of Gene Colan’s art. Enjoy.
However, as sad as this is, it is still Friday, June 24th 2011. The last Friday of the month and that means it is– Free Sketch Card Day.
You know how it works-
The first person to comment on the post entry wins. It’s that easy.
What do you win? A Sketch Card by me.
What goes on the card? You get to tell me, but there are guidelines- no nudity, no sex, no excessive gore or violence and last- only one character.
After that everything is up to me.
