Daily Sketch- 01.09.2012

Howdy folks,

It’s Monday and that means a new week of Daily Sketches- Star Trek month continues with the last of the Captains portraits today and moving on to the First Officers tomorrow. After First Officers, I’ll be moving on to Alien Races- which brings me to my question of the day.

Which Alien Races should I do? Klingons for sure. And, of course, Vulcans. But what else? A Gorn, Andorian, Romulan? Or maybe an Orionian (that is the green gal from the series and movie)? Or maybe, just maybe, a Tribble. So many to pick from. What do you guys think?

Anyway on to today’s DS- Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager. Given command of U.S.S. Voyager, new Intrepid-class starship, it disappeared in Badlands during mission to pursue a rebel Maquis ship. After re-established contact with Starfleet via alien relay station, they reported that Voyager was stranded in Delta Quadrant and most of crew is still alive. After final returning Voyager and her crew back to Earth, Janeway was promoted to Admiral.

Always with the trivia this one is…hmm.

Actress Kate Mulgrew was initially turned down for the role of Capt. Janeway in favour of Genevieve Bujold. And, at one point, several male actors read for the role of Janeway in the event Paramount got cold feet over casting a female lead. But when Bujold backed out of the project two days into shooting, Kate again auditioned for the role, and won it.

See y’all tomorrow,

the Kidd
