Daily Sketch- 01.18.2012

Hey guys, I’m back and more rested than yesterday. Not sure what that whole unsleeping thing was about, but I’m good now. So on with the Daily Sketch.

Two items are on the agenda this day; first the beginning of Aliens for Star Trek month and second the Poll for the next Daily Sketch month theme. So let’s get the ball rolling…

The Gorn are an intelligent, cold-blooded reptilian race. They have large silvery eyes, sharp teeth, claws on their hands and scaled green rubbery skin. Gorn are physically very strong and tall, much more so than typical human. They are known to be very stubborn and territorial.

The Gorn

The Gorn were first introduced in the classic Star Trek episode “The Arena”; in which a Captain Kirk and the Gorn Captain are transported to a barren planet by a race called the Metrons. There the two captains were instructed to settle their differences in a “contest… of ingenuity against ingenuity, brute strength against brute strength.” The Gorn Captain was played by actor/stunt man Bobby Clark. The episode also marked two firsts for the world of Star Trek- it was the first time the Enterprise’s cruising speed was noted as Warp 6 and it was the first mention and use of Photon Torpedoes.

Okay, so the month is slowly coming to an end and it is time to ask. What theme should I do next month. Here’s the poll- please vote.

Later,

the Kidd

  1. I would have gone with pulp adventurers, but I’ve already got a sweet portrait series some idiot Canadian drew for me years ago. They’re quite awesome.
    So, G.I. Joe, it is.
