Daily Sketch- 01.23.2012

Hey howdy folks,

It’s Monday and time to start another week of Daily Sketches continuing our monthly theme where no man has gone before. Also, the poll for next month’s theme is still in full swing- so far Pulp adventurers, the Wild West and Live-action TV Superheroes are all tied for first place. So make your vote count- VOTE HERE

On to today’s DS- Star Trek Aliens continues, with two fan favorites- the Orions and (a late request that I squeezed in) Tribbles.

Orions are known for their distinctive green or sometimes blueish green skin. Orion males are typically bald and, on average, taller and more muscular than the average Human male. The Orion females are very animalistic in nature, known for their extreme carnal appetites and their innate skill of seduction. The Human males can rarely resist the alluring dance of the Orion slave girl.

Tribbles are small, non-intelligent lifeforms originating from Iota Geminorum IV. Known for their prodigious reproductive rate, these round, furry creatures emit cooing sounds while touched, which have a tranquilizing effect on the Human nervous system. Born pregnant, a single tribble with sufficient food can quickly increase its number exponentially through presumably asexual reproduction, bearing an average litter of ten every twelve hours. It should also be noted that Klingons despise Tribbles and vice versa.

Orion and friends.

Trivia- Orion slave girl Marta from the episode “Whom Gods Destroy” (Season 3, Episode 16 of Star Trek) was portrayed by the lovely Yvonne Craig, who is most notably known for her role as Batgirl on the 1960’s Batman TV show. Tribbles are made from a piece of “figure-eight shaped” fake fur, sewn up to make a ball about five inches in diameter. The ball is filled with foam rubber; some tribbles were made by sewing a decapitated walking toy dog inside the fur skin to make the Tribble crawl.

See you tomorrow with the last of the Aliens for Star Trek month.
