Daily Sketch: 10.04.2012

Rolling. Rolling. Rolling. The 31 Days of Halloween continues with more Salem’s Lot.

Today, the lovely Susan Norton- Ben Mears’ lady love and wanna-be heroine. Portrayed by the equally lovely Bonnie Bedelia, probably best known for her tour as Mrs. Holly McClane in the Die Hard films. Another good casting job for the film, Bonnie really pulls off the small-town girl who longs for the big city character.

On a side note- did you know that Salem’s Lot was originally intended to be a theatrical release directed by Mr. George “Zombies are my passion” Romero. Fortunately, two other studios had scheduled putting out vampire movies that year, so Warner Bros. opted for a TV Mini-series instead. Romero dropped out because he felt he wouldn’t be able to do the film he wanted that TV censors would allow. Thus, to my joy, enters Tobe Hooper still riding high on the success of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and we got this classic piece of cinema- one of the best (if not maybe the best) adaptation of a Stephen King novel.

Enough history, here is some art. Personally I am not too happy with this one, the drawing is good, but I was trying out some new pens that just didn’t work out to well.

“Maybe Barlow is just a regular serial killer?”

Catch ya’ll later,
